Apple Charlies Field Trip

Unfortunately, the day BEFORE Grandma came Kyla's class had their field trip to Apple Charlies. I was excited to be able to go with her though. It was one of the first really chilly days, but we still had fun. They took us on a wagon ride through the orchard, through the processing area for the apples, the big refrigerations room to keep them good, the cider mill, and the honey bee hive. Then they let us all have cider, donuts, an apple, and a pie pumpkin. We got to look at the animals for a few minutes before it was time to go. The whole thing was far more "educational" than I thought it would be. It is interesting to me that they take all these great field trips when the kids are in preschool and kindergarten and everything goes over their heads. When the finally get old enough to understad and get something out of it, they are stuck in the classroom. Sorry, a little venting there. One interesting thing is that some of the Muslim ladies that had visited the farm in the past few weeks discovered that the bees in the hive have created a honey comb that in Arabic spells Allah.
