Backyard Birthday Bash! 8/16

Kyla's birthday party ended up being a LOT of fun. She was pretty dang awesome at planning and organizing the whole thing and making most of the food. As we tried to make a list of school friends to invite I had a hard time leaving anyone out so I tried my best at finding phone numbers and making contact with everyone. There were a few we couldn't get a hold and a few that couldn't make it so we ended up with 12 guests but a couple of those were from church. Grace and Kyla colored chalk on the sidewalk to welcome everyone to the party and we met everyone in the front yard. The guests were; Addie Ruesch, ella Champoux, Sydney Rosbury, Ava Fredricks,  Peyton, Christina and Grace Bertucci, Nicole, Sydney Mathis, Nadine, Marian and Asilinn Lawrence, and Kassidy Reeder.

We moved to the back as soon as everyone got there and started out playing Poison Dart Frog which is basically like a version of Murder in the Dark but you stick you tongue out at the person to "kill" them.

Then we had pizza, veggies, and fruit salad that Kyla had made and basically nobody ate :(. I guess I shouldn't have put the yogurt on it, they probably would have eaten it better if I had left it plain.

After dinner they did a photo nature scavenger hunt and broke up into three teams and took pictures of all the list. We realized we hadn't divided the teams equally when Christina and Kyla's team toasted everyone else even after their camera malfunctioned. IMG_3361IMG_3343

They played musical flowers and when they "got out" I gave them Kyla's specialty Smore's mix. After that they played the funniest "Dress-Up Obstacle Course". The girls got really into it and were super silly.

We got that cleaned up and got out the water balloons! Anya appreciated that!

We did water balloon toss and then Grace suggested doing a "duck, duck, goose" where it is "Splish, splish, splosh" and you crack the balloon over the head of the person you choose. That was a lot of fun.

Then we started with treats. We had made cupcakes and I had gotten waffle cones. The kids could choose to put in cupcakes, ice cream, whip cream and lots of toppings. They were really fun birthday treats and I think they were pretty popular as I saw very little thrown away.

While everyone was finishing eating Nora played "Smile Pretty Fairy" with the others. Then Kyla opened presents! Man she got a LOT of stuff. I couldn't believe how much people spent on her. We moved back to the front yard to play with hula hoops until the parents came. Anya again, I don't know how she drew the camera but all of the pictures are of her, oops!

Oh I almost forgot as we were serving up ice cream I ran inside to get something and came out and fell down the steps and landed on the top of my foot. I screwed it up pretty good and had to stay off of it with ice on it for the rest of the night, which was kind of interesting. This was taken later that night when everyone had gone home and I was getting chilly with ice on my foot so we put a hot bean bag on the other foot.

Grace came at 1:00 that afternoon and helped with EVERYTHING she stayed through the party and mostly held babies the whole time, which was a HUGE help. Nora and Asilinn helped too, Asilinn was in charge of the music and got us some great music going. All in all it was SO FUN! I forgot to add that the farm girls had brought home a goat, duck, bunny and two kittens for the weekend so that was very popular with all the party guests.
