Daddy Daughter Dance 2010

With 3 girls, there was no getting out of once again attending the annual Dearborn Daddy Daughter Dance. At least this time they were propperly made up by their mom unlike the Daddy-(hair)Doo's they got last time. Lise did an amazing job of giving them some creative hairdoos to go with their outfits.

Of course the standard refreshments of cheese pizza and lemonade was enough to impress the girls, especially the desert which included chocolate fountains. Just think, hundreds of little girls in fancy dresses dipping food into a chocolate fountain. What could possibly go wrong with that? We saw a lot of disgruntled dadds running into the bathroom for a wet paper towel.

Of course, they loved the whole thing and insisted on staying until the very end. Luckily this enabled us to get a picture of them with all of their other little friends from church who were also there.

A Call to 911

So tonight while I was sitting on the couch trying very hard to keep Eli busy while I read my email on the laptop and watch the Olympics, he got a hold of the home phone. Well not just the phone, he had two remotes too; but at the time the phone was the most entertaining. He started pushing buttons like crazy, as usual. The biggest center button on it is a transfer button which makes the phone upstairs ring. So everytime he pushed the transfer button I would push the on button so it would stop ringing. Well after awhile I couldn't tell what was ringing or getting pushed and looked at the phone and it said it was ringing. So I decided to answer it. It was the nice lady from 911 telling me to please take the phone away from the baby. She said she had received a call from our home and she had been trying to call back for a few minutes, but kept getting hung up on. I guess he will have to stick with his remotes from know on. I am so thankful that they don't have to send a truck out to check out every call but would take my word that everything was fine. I think Eli is the first one of my kids to call 911 but not quite sure. Hopefully it is not a sign of thing to come in the future!

Hands-On Museum February 17

The last day of mid-winter break I took the kids to the Hands-On Museum. They have been begging to go everytime we have a break from school so I finally caved in and took them. It was a very fun day. The whole main floor of the museum they have a traveling exhibit for Bob the Builder. The girls enjoyed all the new stuff, but I think they kind of missed all the old stuff, especially the water toys.

I told the girls to build a house out of the foam blocks and then let Eli knock it down. I was surprised how high it got.

Eli wasn't even interested in knocking it down

and so all 3 girls did it at once.

Eli enjoyed exploring the ambulance.

Eli did have fun with the magnets up on the second floor.

The girls spent a lot of time with this machine demonstrating how email and the internet work.

It was a fun day but I was excited to send them off to school the next day and get back to my routine.

Aquatic Center February 16

Today we had a great time enjoying the time off school by going to the Aquatic Center. It started snowing earlier in the day and so I was thinking of not going, since I seem to be allergic to driving on snowy roads. Then it started melting off and I figured I would be sad later if I didn't just bite the bullet and make it happen. The kids had a fantastic time. It was warmer than I remember. Myka headed out of the locker room and started clinging to me saying she was scared. I think it was just the noise of the waterfalls. I told her just to sit in the water at the 0 depth and I would come help her in a minute. I started getting Eli dressed and a minute later she was saying "Mom I went down the waterslide". I was really surprised! She wasn't timid of the water at all. I am so excited; she will do so much better in swim lessons this summer. Kyla was super excited to find that she had grown enough that she could walk all the way to the bubble bench by herself. Both Nora and Kyla surprised me by going down the large water slide without too much encouragement. Nora then surprised me going on it again and again and again. I don't know if Eli being a complete angel was much of a surprise but he seemed to enjoy himself. So I know that they don't allow cameras but I couldn't resist and snapped this quick one before I got yelled at!
