The week before last, we had a lot of fun but got pretty tired while we were doing it. Monday was Nora's last full day of school, well I don't know if you could call it a full day of school since they went on a field trip to the Detroit Zoo. This picture is of Kyla on the only elephant at the zoo. I came and tagged along with the other two girls. It was fun, but hard to be with a big group were there was so much waiting around.
It was super hot that day too, so all the animals were very lazy and not doing much. The girls love the zoo and hopefully we will be able to go back several more times before our pass expires in August. Tuesday, Nora had only a half day and I was in charge of Enrichment that night. The girls got to tag along to the church while we set up and then try to keep themselves occupied while I was busy cooking all afternoon. The whole night went off really well. I have a great committee and some awesome ladies to work with and even an Enrichment Leader now. Our night was titled "Yoga and Yogurt" and was a healthy living themed evening. We had a yummy dinner of Oriental Chicken Salad, Chicken Giardino (Veggies & Pasta), and then my Black Bean and Sausage Soup. Then we had a guest speaker from another ward in the stake come and talk about nutrition and tips on how to have a healthier lifestyle. She did a fantastic job and I wish I could have recorded it. Then we had another lady come and do a short yoga class. I am always so worried that no one is going to come or we won't have enough food but somehow it all ends up working out and ends up being a great night.
Wednesday we woke up early to go strawberry picking. The girls were very excited and got decked out in their strawberry clothes. The strawberries were very yummy and plentiful. Nora and Kyla were pretty good helpers but not quite as selective at getting only the big dark ones. Myka had fun for awhile but got tired and hot after an hour or so. We had fun playing with friends at McDonald's afterwards.
I ended up just throwing them all in the freezer on cookie sheets to make jam at some point later, except for a bowl of beautiful ones that I made 3 strawberry pies out of. We found a really good tip-to paint the pie crust with melted chocolate chips and then the crust doesn't get soggy, they were really yummy.
Thursday we went to the library to make the Father's Day craft. They have a branch of the library in a small old building and it is really fun and quaint. The girls had their last practice of dance that night too. Friday, I had a dentist appointment and then that evening we went to the Ward Hawaiian Luau. It was really fun, they did a great job. I also ended up having a visit from the Fire Department. One of our carbon monoxide detectors was going off and I called to see what they thought about it. I was surprised when the said they would send a truck out and check it out. The girls liked seeing the truck and the fire men. They were really nice and went through the house with their detectors and didn't find anything. They thought that the detector I had was probably just old and defective.
Saturday I decided we needed to do something fun instead of making our Daddy work all day on Father's Day weekend but that is another post. . .

You don't let yourselves get board. I guess there is just too much to do! Those are some gorgeous strawberries! Aren't you so glad that you blog so that you can record and share all your wonderful experiences?! I love to read them!
Hey Lise- It's Alysia. I just saw you at the water park in St. George. Cute blog! I see that you love Aldi. If you do end up going to Germany, you'll love it there too. They have a few of them scattered into Switzerland and that was my favorite place to shop because it was SO much cheaper than Swiss stores and it always had fun little things I never saw anywhere else.
