Saturday Concluded

The first time that Kyla and Myka saw Thomas at the village was two weeks ago on Friday. It was just a coincidence that we were going walking that day with Birgitte and her kids. Myka and Kyla were sooo excited and amazed that he really was a real train. We just had to bring Nora back after school, we knew she would be so excited. When we got there that afternoon, Nora barely had a glimpse of him going past the front as we entered the park. I told Nora if we ran really fast we could make it across the village and to Walnut Grove where he would be coming out of the forest. We both ran really hard and got a lot of strange looks, especially since we were going in the opposite direction from all the Thomas activities. Once we got to Walnut Grove I pointed her in the right direction and she kept running across the field just in time to see Thomas come out of the trees and head straight towards her. The engineers all leaned out the window and waved to her. Thomas gave her a special little whistle and even turned his eyes to look at her. It was such a perfect childhood moment, just her and the train in the middle of a big field far away from all the crowds at the other end of the village. I really wish I had had my camera and got it on video but I was running too hard to make it happen anyway.

I left the girls and Daniel at the village and met a couple of great friends for some Mother's Day pampering. Birgitte, Summer, and I went out to lunch at Panera and then off for manicures/pedicures. We realized we had never been together without the kids before and it was a lot of fun to have a real conversation. They dropped me off at the church for a R.S. meeting for a couple hours and then that evening I was off again to craft night while Daniel got to feed and put the girls to bed.

Sunday they pampered me well with cards, flowers, and a whole afternoon to rest. I am excited to have finally, slowly gotten into some better routines so hopefully I can get a handle on the household chores and still have time for something more "permanent", you know stuff that you aren't going to have to redo next week.

I showed the pictures of Thomas to the kids and Jaren said, "Can I go there?!" What fond memories you have of the village.
