Fairyopolis - A Project Complete!

For part of the girls' Christmas we promised them a room makeover. We decided on a fairy theme and had a lot of fun with it. Daniel spent most of Christmas break in their room painting and we have been adding the finishing touches ever since. This is the "before" picture just as you walk in the door. This vanity was left in the house when we bought it and we thought it could use some paint.

We turned that corner of the room in to Myka's little area. She loves her new big girl bed and it looks so cute there. I am still hoping to find a small dresser to replace this one that either is a nice light wood stain or that I can paint. We also added some track lighting above her bed to give the room a little more light. This is also one of the best pictures of the stripes we painted below the chair rail and the fairy stickers.

The vanity was one of the last things we got done. This was one of the awesome projects my mom helped us get done while she was here. I think it turned out super cute. I found some "tinkerbell" knobs at a yard sale, we bought the ottoman from Target and my mom helped me do magic with flowers, fabic, and ribbon around the mirror.

Here we have before and after of the other corner of the room.

I think we ended up using 5 different paint colors. Daniel took down the old light fixture and we replaced it with a white fan taken from the bonus room where it wasn't used much.

The other side of the room before and after:

Daniel built a shelf for over the window to hold all their stuffed animals. We can only have as many animals as the shelf can hold. We had to get rid of a whole bunch of them when he got the shelf in. I also got this play table from our church that was not being used to put in the center of the room. That way they can keep the Barbies, Pollys, pet shop, dollhouse, etc. set up cute for a few days while they play with it. I like that the toys don't get so scattered all over the floor and stepped on.

When Granpa was here for a couple of days we kept him busy creating my dress-up hanger invention. He took a wooden stair rail that we had laying around and put hangers all the way up it in a spiral. We put a light coat of varnish on it and Daniel magically installed it so you can't see the screws, it rotates, and is spring loaded. Yep, he was pretty excited about it. He decided it looks more like a tree and fits right into fairyland! It does just what I wanted and gives the girls an easy way to hang their dress-ups and avoid the drawers smashed full.

Kyla in the chair that I greatly dislike but with a couple of cute blankets thrown over and it is not too bad.

Beautiful!! Looks like so much fun for the girls. That room looks like it has a lot of character--sloped celings and the built in drawers with the little nook--cool! And I LOVE the stripes!
